Mazda6 Diesel gets certified in U.S.and Discontinued in Europe

Last year Mazda Introduced the engine in its CX-5. and this year they are going to achieve the same. Finally, the Mazda Sedan is introducing the SKYACTIV-D diesel engine to the United States. Because the Mazda finally

got its emissions regulation certification from the California Air Resources Board or we can say CARB. European union phasing out the new passenger cars which run on fossil fuels. Various auto manufacturers don’t want to invest in diesel any longer. This is the reason why the production will be the end of Mazda diesel 6 for the European market.

Before this, Mazda was facing the problem of certification of diesel cars in America. As the Volkswagen emission scandal leaves an impact on the automaker industry due to the popularity of diesel cars dropping rapidly in the U.S. after lots of efforts Mazda finally makes its comeback with the CX-5 in 2019. The United States will see the Mazda6 diesel within a few months in the U.S. market. The sedan is made at the same plant for both U.S. and Europe in Japan. This Mazda 6 is going to join the Mazda CX-5 diesel with the Japanese 2021 model.

There is a difference between the U.S. and Europe in terms of emission regulations. The company is thinking to be suggesting the EPA approval first. They want to be sure about the Skyactiv-D 2.2 engine and aim to meet the required emission standard and clear all the necessary regulations. In the U.S. for both models, the SKYACTIV-D offers 2.2. Litre, turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine produces 168 horsepower and 290 pound-feet of torque, that will match the six-speed automatic transmission.

It requires a little more investment like $4000 for a turbocharged, 2.5-liter gasoline mill. We are expecting the top-level signature trim from Mazda6 diesel. If we talk about the city/highway combined ratings of CX-5 diesel then it has 27/30/28 mpg. If we assume the 14% improvement in the new Mazda6 diesel, then it should consume about 30mog on the combined cycle.

However, the meaning of this certification is that the Mazda diesel 6 will be introduced this year as the 2021 model. Mazda already claims that they will offer the top-tier signature trim. The price will start from $36,345 with the standard turbocharged gasoline 4-cylinder. The price difference between a Mazda CX-5 and the diesel CX-5 is around $4000. We don’t know the actual price yet, but this Mazda6 diesel will cost you around $40,000.
